ABOUT THE NAME

After carefully weighing our options, we chose the project title because the meaning is so concisely related to our purpose. The study of August Mysteries, by definition, is our mission. So, here it is, the focus of this site and the meaning of our title according to the Oxford University Press:

Mystery
noun

(pl. mysteries) 1 something that is difficult or
impossible to understand or explain.
2 secrecy or obscurity. 3 a novel play, or film
dealing with a puzzling crime.
4 (mysteries) the secret rites of an ancient or
tribal religion. 5 chiefly Christian Theology a
religious belief based on divine revelation. 6
an incident in the life of Jesus or of a saint as
a focus of devotion in the Roman Catholic
Church.

THE PROJECT

The concept of The August Mystery Project was first developed by a
couple of freelance writers. After spending the better part of their lives
researching and writing about the religious and cultural legends of
Earth's oldest civilizations, the pair has now teamed up to build an
impressive database of research material and resources which they plan
to share with the AMP community. Of concentrated interest is the study
of mythological, theological, and esoteric traditions.

August (a.k.a. The AMP Webmaster) will be collating the data and
resources brought together by the writers. Thus far, the results are:

Mystery Relics (coming soon!): A page of photos/sketches of varied
mysterious relics along with a brief history of each piece.

Mystery Files: Although Mystery Files can be produced by any registered
AMP member, look for Mystery Files created by the AMP Team!

Lost Scriptures: This is a growing database of lost & forgotten
Judeo-Christian scriptures. The database will continue to grow as the
AMP Team finishes transcribing their notes and translations.

Watch for other religious texts in the future, such as chapters from the
Hindi's Vedas, Muslim's Koran, and much more!

Believer's & Skeptics, use These AMP resources to express your
theories...

The Mystery Files: If you have original content you would like to see on
The AMP, then please send it in the body of an email. All viewpoints are
welcomed! The Skeptics and The Believers can offer their own
interpretations of various mysteries, myths, and legends throughout
history. We hope this will offer visitors some diversified insight into each
subject, while giving us a better understanding of public opinion and
popular beliefs.

The AMP Forum: Believers & Skeptics can debate the data or find
like-minded allies in their quest for TRUTH.

The AMP Live: This new feature gives AMP guests a chance to watch a
real LIVE debate among experts in a chat room environment. Following
